Article Summaries on MIS In the News
Four (4) write-ups @ 50 pts (200 pts)
In the field of technology, staying on top of current trends is central to being equipped with the most relevant and useful information (and thereby being viewed as knowledgeable in a competitive marketplace). The purpose of this activity is to help you learn how to be more self-sufficient in staying current on technology-related news through the process of submitting short summaries of articles you have researched with the focus on contemporary news related to the field of MIS.
For each of the four modules of this course, you are to provide a short write-ups on various industry-related articles that you research and review. Each write-up will be worth a maximum of 50 points (200 pts total) and follow a common and concise set of requirements. (See below under “Detailed Instructions”.) Select the article wisely and with attention to topics that will be interesting and engaging to everyone in the class as we will present and discuss these articles on one class meeting during the week.
Locate and read any contemporary article (within 12 months) of your choosing that relates to the topic of each of the four course modules. See the course syllabus for those four module areas.
Provide a short summary of the article (200-400 words) that includes/addresses the following:
Your name, the date, article # (1, 2, 3, 4), and URL of source you reviewed.
Why you selected this article.
What you learned and how it adds to your knowledge of Management Information Systems in general the the associated module of the course specifically.
Anything else you would like to include in the write-up.
All write-ups should be done in formal APA including a cover page, references, and in-line citations. Also make sure that your narrative is grammatically clean and reasonably well-organized. You are encouraged to use a web-based posting location (e.g., personal blog, shared Googledocs/dropbox folder). If so, then post an entry to the appropriate dropbox that includes a complete URL to wherever you have posted the write-up to be reviewed.
Be prepared to present your article and discuss it with your classmates. Each week during the term, we will have one evening largely devoted to article discussions. See the Schedule of Semester Activities for specific dates of open discussions.
Post your submission either as an attached (uploaded) document or pasted directly into the text area of the appropriate dropbox that corresponds to each of your four submissions:

Article Writeup #2 (50 pts)
Article Writeup #3 (50 pts)
