Understanding the Citations in a Research Paper:

Before writing the paper, you would have to choose one of the five articles that you have used in the previous Annotated Bibliography assignment you have worked on. You might not have the paper by now, so I’m going to attach the works cited page so that you can look at the articles and choose one. After you have done that, go look at the article from the database (https://library.umbc.edu/) then look at the “Works Cited” or “References” sections at the end of the article. Choose 5 of those cited articles. When you’re done with that you can start writing the paper. The first page of the essay should explain the importance of citing other’s works when writing a paper and when it is appropriate to cite other papers(in 3 paragraphs).Then, for the remaining five pages you are going to write about the different purposes that the 5 citations you chose served in the article, referencing each as you go along.( The first citation helped the article in… , Second citation was useful in the article in numerous ways such as… Third citation… etc…). The different purposes of each citation for the article should be a page long with three paragraphs. At the end the seventh and last page should be the works cited page and it should contain the five citations you have chosen. Please make sure the five citations are in APA format, if the five citation are in different format on the works cited page of the article you have chosen make sure you change them into APA format it is extremely important.

Finally I’m going to go over the outline of the paper to clear any confusions if there are any:

First page: should explain the importance of citing other’s works when writing a paper and when it is appropriate to cite other papers(in 3 paragraphs)

second page(3 paragraphs) : write about the different purposes that the first citation out of the five served in the article.

Third page : write about the different purposes that the second citation out of the five served in the article.

Fourth page: write about the different purposes that the third citation out of the five served in the article.

Fifth page: write about the different purposes that the fourth citation out of the five served in the article.

Sixth page: write about the different purposes that the fifth citation out of the five served in the article.

Seventh page: Works cited page of the five citations you have chosen from the article’s works cite page. Change the format to APA if they are not already in APA format( Important).
